Lars-Oliver Vogt is Managing Director of Live Nation Brand Partnership & Media GmbH. In this role, he is responsible for all of Live Nation’s sponsorship and media productions in German-speaking countries.
“I first got hooked on live music when I was a kid watching Rockpalast on German TV – The Police live in the Grugahalle in 1980 – and I got to stay up past midnight – that pretty much sums it up,” says Lars-O.
Lars-O began his professional career at the age of 19 as a concert promoter before moving to the Marek Lieberberg Concert Agency (MLK) as Head of New Talent in the late 1990s. During this time, he staged concerts with acts such as Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot and The Offspring, booked most of the acts for MLK’s Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals, brought the events back to MTV and secured the festival’s first multi-million dollar sponsorship deal with a live streaming platform, although broadband Internet had yet to be invented.
In 2000, he started his own company to focus on sponsorship and his passion for livestream productions. Since then, his team has been involved in the recording of thousands of concerts and has been responsible for the livestreams of Rock am Ring, Wacken Open Air and Lollapalooza.
In 2017, Live Nation acquired a majority stake in his companies.
Lars-O is also chairman of Crew Nation e.V. in Germany, a non-profit organization that supports solo live crews. Crew Nation has raised over €890,000 for live crews in Germany alone with its first live stream project #lauterwerden.
Lars-O says, “I see the pandemic as my social year, our whole industry has been hit hard, but for our freelance crew members the situation is threatening their existence and without them there will be no live business after the pandemic. “So I hope I can help as many people as possible to get through this dark time, and that we will all see each other again soon, safe and sound, on and off stage.”
